BRYANT POND – Sylvia Ring Knights, 68, died Feb. 1, at home with her husband and family at her side.

She was born in Rumford on July 5, 1937, the daughter of Merle Sr. and Ruby (Hodsdon) Ring.

She attended Woodstock schools and graduated from Gould Academy in 1956. She married Ansel Evans in 1957. She worked as a legal secretary at Whiting and Seguin in Rumford for many years, before becoming interested in healthcare services.

She helped establish Tri Town Rescue and volunteered as an EMT with them. She retired from Stephens Memorial Hospital, where she had worked as a CNA for many years.

She married Clyde Knights in May of 1988. They greatly enjoyed camping and traveling and especially their winter home in Florida. She also enjoyed stamp collecting and doing family genealogical research on the Internet.

She is survived by her husband and best friend, Clyde; two sons, Andy and Robert; brother, Merle; stepchildren, Maryann, James and Valerie; and numerous grandchildren.
