(KRT) – The new ESPN cell phone, available in Best Buy stores starting today, is priced at $199.

Service plans vary, ranging from $34.99 a month for 100 minutes of talk time to $224.99 for 4,000 minutes. There is no extra charge for the ESPN data service or other Web usage, regardless of the plan.

By comparison, Cingular Wireless offers 1,500 minutes for $49.99, but additional charges apply for using Web services. Similar pricing plans are offered by other wireless carriers.

A spokewoman for ESPN notes that if users surpass 35 megabytes of data transfers each month, extra charges would apply. “But most people stay well within the limit,” she said. Cingular charges users $14.99 per month for up to 10 mb of data and $19.99 for unlimited use.

All plans for the ESPN phone include a one-year subscription to ESPN The Magazine and unlimited access to ESPN’s paid Web site content. For more information, go to MobileESPN.com.
