I am a member of the working class, or, more realistically, the working poor. I’m writing to give voice for others like myself.
If you have to choose between medications, heat or food, thank President George Bush.
If you can’t believe what the war in Iraq is costing in lives and money, thank Bush. (I do support the troops, just not Bush. I do that by accommodating a guardsman’s family at my job.)
If you have had to use credit cards for necessities and will see your monthly minimum payments jump, thank Bush.
If you were sickened by the lack of response to Hurricane Katrina, thank Bush – among others, and also his mother, for her witty remarks.
To those who can’t relate to what I’m ranting about or ask what right I have to complain, I believe the highest form of patriotism is protest. Questioning our leaders is always a good idea. I work with developmentally disabled and mentally ill people who are very much affected by budget cuts in services.
If you are furious about what the Bush administration has done and is doing to the unique structure of government our forefathers created – to break away from excessive taxation and hierarchy – the best way to thank Bush would be something he most likely could not even pronounce – impeachment.
