FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) – A Fairfield University student was found dead in his dorm room on Friday, possibly the result of unspecified medical problems.
The cause of death of sophomore Alejandro “Alex” Carrion, 20, of Miami, was not immediately known. Police do not suspect foul play.
“It appears to be medical related,” Detective Sgt. Suzanne Lussier said.
The medical examiner’s office said Saturday morning a cause of death has not been determined.
Police say Carrion’s roommate discovered his body at about 11 a.m. Friday and called 911.
University security officers performed CPR on Carrion as firefighters arrived, but he was unresponsive.
“The community is shaken by the sudden and tragic loss of a valued member of the Fairfield family,” the Rev. Jeffrey P. von Arx, president of Fairfield University, said in a statement. “We invite everyone to pray for Alejandro, his family and his friends.”
Carrion was a politics major and was active in the College Republicans and the school’s Pep Band, according to the university.
