Valentine program

AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, Washington Street. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m.

Tickets $4 for the Valentine Party on Wednesday may still be purchased by phoning Irving Grant at 782-3661. Dues for 2006 must be paid in order to attend. The Valentine king and queen will be chosen and, following these events, bingo will be played, time permitting. There will be the usual raffle table. Members are reminded to bring their cups.

Because of the inclement weather only 29 were present at the Jan. 26 meeting. Attendance prize winners were Roger Briggs and Mariette Timberlake; pot of gold, Alwin Strout and Nancy Roy.

Firefighters

LEWISTON – The Androscoggin County Firefighters Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Lewiston Fire Station.

OES to meet

AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. It will be Valentines Appreciation, Night for the officers of Pine Cone Chapter.

The meeting will be preceded by a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Grange program

AUBURN – Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet at the hall at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, for a program on “Agriculture” with Vince Collins as speaker. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.

Travelers meeting

AUBURN – Twin City Council 160, United Commercial Travelers of America and Canada, will meet at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Odd Fellows Hall on Elm Street. At the close of the business meeting, members will dine at Marco’s Restaurant in Lewiston. All members and guests are welcome.

New tax sites

LEWISTON – Donald Linscott, AARP tax-aide district administrator, has announced the opening of two more sites for the free preparation and e-filing of 2005 federal and state tax returns.

Poland from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursdays at the Ricker Memorial Library. For appointments, call 998-3166, Marty Corey.

Wales from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays at Oak Hill High School Adult Education Office. Appointments may be made by calling 375-6605. There will be no tax preparation when school is canceled or during school vacations.

AARP is providing the free service that helps taxpayers with low and middle income, with special emphasis to those 60 and older.

Antique show

BATH – The Bath Antiques Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Bath Middle School. Sixty New England dealers will be on hand. Included will be furniture, paintings, porcelain, pottery, rugs, glass, textiles and jewelry.

Lunch will be available. Admission will be $4, or $3.50 with ad or article. For more information, call 443-8983.

Bridge results

NEW GLOUCESTER – New Gloucester Bridge Club met Feb. 5 at the Masonic Building, corner of Routes 100 and 231.

Finishing first in Flights A and B were Barbara and Paul Beegel, with Linda Leotsakos and Audrey Burns second.

Another game will be held Sunday, Feb. 12. A partner is guaranteed. All bridge players are welcome. For information, call Les Buzzell at 754-9153.
