FARMINGTON – Irene P. Riley, 94, a longtime resident of Livermore Falls, died peacefully Monday, Feb. 6, at the Pinewood Terrace Nursing Home where she had resided since February 2004.

She was born on Sept. 17, 1911, in Livermore Falls, the last of 13 children of Alec and Artemise Pomerleau. She was a 1929 graduate of Livermore Falls High School. She worked as a secretary at the Record Foundry & Machine Co. in Livermore Falls for 25 years.

On Dec. 25, 1952, she married Edwin Riley of Livermore Falls. Mr. Riley passed away on April 4, 1985. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, a member of the Daughters of Isabella and past president of the American Legion, George Bunton, Post 10 of Livermore Falls.

She is survived by grandchildren, Willard Edwin Riley II of Bangor and Phyllis Riley Castonguay of Windham; great-grandchildren, Tammy Frost of Livermore Falls and April Castonguay of North Carolina; two great-great-grandchildren, Nathan and Carter Frost of Livermore Falls; nieces, Lorrette Garrett, Kay Wagner of Livermore and Sandy Poesse of Florida; grandnieces, Susan Castonguay of Livermore Falls, Laurie Damon of Livermore, Linda Fournier of East Jay, Gary Gross of Canton, Robert Coates of East Jay and Frank Coates of Livermore Falls.

She was predeceased by her parents and all her siblings.

The family would like to thank the many people who made Irene’s last days some of her best, including Sue Bell and all the wonderful caregivers at Pinewood Terrace; Jennifer Smith and all the fine people at Sandy River Rehabilitation & Nursing Home; James McCarthy, the Rev. Clifford Olson and her best friend, Ione Ray.
