LEWISTON – The Androscoggin County Republicans will hold their annual Lincoln Day Dinner and Auction on Friday, Feb. 10, at the Ramada with U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe the keynote speaker.

The dinner is held every year by all county Republican organizations in honor of former President Abraham Lincoln.

The social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. Dinner, program and auction will follow with Maine auctioneer John Morrison. The event, including dinner, costs $30, and reservations must be made by Feb. 8. For further information, contact Rosemarie Butler at 782-6373.

In November 2000, Snowe was re-elected to a second, six-year term from Maine. Prior to her election to the Senate, Snowe represented Maine’s 2nd Congressional District for 16 years. Snowe is only the fourth woman in history to be elected to both houses of Congress and the first woman in American history to serve in both houses of a state Legislature and Congress.

She presently is a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and chairs the subcommittee on Fisheries and Coast Guard. She is married to former Maine Gov. John McKernan. They live in Falmouth.
