AUBURN – Auburn’s Junior Girl Scout Troop 278 will be collecting supplies for the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society during February.

The shelter relies on community donations of food and supplies for the animals that it cares for. Individuals can donate to the troop’s “Have a Heart” Community Service Project throughout February by bringing donations to the St. Peter and Sacred Heart School.

The Humane Society provides a safe haven for approximately 3,600 sick, homeless and abused animals a year. Primary support comes from fund-raising events and donations.

The shelter gives back through community services, including animal intake and adoption, animal health services, reuniting people with lost animals, humane education and working with individuals who are disadvantaged or developmentally disabled.

The Humane Society is located at 3312 Hotel Road. Anyone interested in learning more about volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal should call 783-2311 or visit the Web at www.gahumane.org.
