LEWISTON – The Jesus Party, with directors Douglas and Sonia Taylor, will celebrate its 11-year anniversary and special “Love Gathering” on Friday, Feb. 10.

The contemporary urban ministry will introduce a new segment to the weekly meetings. To some, the flannel graph may be an old-fashioned Sunday school teaching tool, but to this generation, which has never seen it, it has become a new hands-on way of teaching 175 stories from the Bible from Genesis to the Book of Revelation.

With its colors, numerous characters and backgrounds, the “little folks visual” flannel storybook brings the stories of old in a fresh new way.

The Jesus Party has been collecting returnable bottles as part of its “Operation Redemption,” an effort to raise money for other nonprofit organizations. That evening as part of the anniversary celebration, they will hold a “Love Gathering,” when the money collected will be counted and a check in that amount will be donated to Easter Seals of Maine.

Refreshments will be served, and all attending will have the opportunity to take part in drawings for door prizes. For more information, call 786-5568.
