Quilting topic

PERU – The Peru Extension Homemakers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Peru School. The topic will be quilting with Elaine Benedict as leader.

Members should bring quarter yard pieces of material, scissors, thread, needles and a piece of sandpaper. Jane Peterson will bring the mystery. Members are to bring a bag lunch.

Sunday sermon

PARIS – The 10 a.m. service at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris, on Sunday, Feb. 12, will feature a sermon in dialogue. Noah Love will tell of a life-changing experience that began for him last summer. Love is in his junior year at Hebron Academy.

The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist, and Love’s classmate, Charlie Cummings, will be the soloist. Renee Wales will lead the Sunday school. Child care is provided. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Board to meet

NEWRY – The selectmen will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at the town office.

Adds books

WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Historical Society has expanded its research library. Curator Larry Billings has donated new books. They include works on historic homes, old tools and biographies of famous people.

He has also given a collection of classics. The volumes already in the library cover a wide variety of subjects for reference purposes.
