The article that appeared on the front page of the Sun Journal on Feb. 3 regarding the Moontide Festival was poorly done.

The article mistakenly stated that Matthew J. Plante was “found” guilty, where it should have said that he “pleaded” guilty. The fact is that Plante paid back the entire $6,000 that he took; the article was unclear about the restitution and how it was repaid. The piece also conveniently left out that Plante also made a $500 donation to the festival, which was not court-mandated.

The relentless references to Plante every time the festival is mentioned in the newspaper is a detriment to the organization’s attempts to move on and it smacks of tabloid journalism.
