AUBURN – There is a 3-way tie for first place in the Auburn Rec Women’s Slowdown Basketball League entering tonight’s action. Hoop Camp, Rec-Ing Crew and SOCHS are all 3-1.
In recent contests, Rec-Ing Crew fell from the unbeaten ranks with a loss to SOCHS, 45-31; Old School beat Young Ones, 34-29; and Lady Ballers edged Hoop Camp 37-22.
Last week, Hoop Camp trimmed Young Ones 41-32 as Katie Morin scored 14 points and Tanisha Scottham 9. Pauline Veinot led Young Ones with 16. Christine Ray added 11. SOCHS defeated Independent Women 38-31 as D. Kane and Courtney Haynes tallied 6 each. Stacey Croft paced the losers with 9 points. Dawn Beaule was next with 8.
Tonight’s schedule at Hasty Community Center: 7:30, SOCHS vs Old School; 8:45, Young Ones vs Lady Ballers. Sunday’s slate: 7 p.m., Hoop Camp vs Independent Women.

TURNER – Liberty Mutual continues to roll in the Leavitt Area Men’s Basketball League, having picked up 2 more wins in recent contests to run its record to 9-0. Shawn Spadea netted 25 points and Dan Debruin added 23 as the Insurancemen beat the Shooters 92-74. Taylor Caron tallied 22 for Shooters. The league-leaders also knocked off Emerson Toyota 103-81 as Spadea scored 29 and Scott Bessey 25. Sherwin McKenzie (21) led Emerson.
Ranor remained 2 games behind Liberty despite earning 2 wins. Aaron St. Pierre collected 26 points to power Ranor to a 98-78 triumph over Fitness World. Josh Berard netted 25 in a losing effort. Ranor also outlasted Lloyd’s Land 101-95 as St. Pierre poured in 32. Eric Enrite led Lloyd’s with 25.
Lance Poland (38), Dan Coleman (32) and Nate Pelletier (28) powered Ben Alpren Machine to a 120-108 win over Lloyd’s Land. The losers were paced by Jerod Verrill (31) and Brian White (22). Alpren then suffered a forfeit loss to St. Hilaire Roofing.
Emerson Toyota defeated St. Hilaire Roofing 92-76 as Marques Barrett scored 20. Jake St. Hilaire popped in 25 for the Roofers.
Shooters edged Fitness World 89-84 as Josh Morin collected 31 and Caron 18. Fitness was led by Berard (30) and Chris Williamson (22).
