FARMINGTON – The Fairbanks School Neighborhood Association is striving to meet its goal of raising the funds needed to release a $300,000 USDA grant to complete work on the former Fairbanks Schoolhouse.

In order to release the funds, the group needs to raise $105,000 from local contributors.

The group has been successful in raising approximately $37,500 toward the goal thus far, and is in the final stages to raise the remaining $68,000 by March 1.

Contributions provide after-school programs for youth, a care-and-share food pantry and countywide food distribution center, a commercial kitchen, as well as other programs for economic development.

Without the support and leadership of businesses and individuals in the area, the association would be unable to meet the goal.

To continue support through contributions, individual or corporate are asked to send donations by March 1 to the Fairbanks School Neighborhood Association, P.O. Box 206, Farmington, ME 04938.

For more information, call Cindy Kemble at 778-3808 or Tom Hagerstrom, capital campaign chairman.
