FARMINGTON – Portugal is this week’s feature creature at the Franklin County Animal Shelter.
She is a beautiful doubled-pawed orange tabby and is only 8 months old. She is a little shy and, instead of climbing up a leg or rubbing for attention, she prefers to stay at a distance and watch.
She just needs some time to adjust to a home and to a person’s touch. She arrived at the shelter as a new born baby. Her mother and siblings were found by a person’s dog on their daily walk. The dog sniffed them out and found them nesting under a neighbor’s barn.
Although as a kitten she was social, she has become timid because of the lack of attention a growing cat needs.
New dogs at the shelter include a male husky mix found in Wilton; a border collie mix found in New Vineyard; and a pit bull mix found in Jay.
