BURLINGTON, Vt. – John Downs of Gardiner, representing the Gamache Boxing Club, won the 155-pound Novice division at the Vermont Golden Gloves competition.
Downs defeated Devin Singh in the second round when the referee stopped the contest.
The victory advances Downs to the New England championship in Lowell, Mass.
