ROXBURY – Marguerite W. “Robe” Robbins, 85, a lifelong resident of Roxbury, died Friday, Feb. 10, after a long illness.

She was born in Dorchester, Mass., on Sept. 28, 1920, a daughter of Harold and Harriet C. (Langill) Robie, and was educated in Dorchester schools.

Robe moved to East Dixfield as a young woman and resided there for several years.

On Sept. 16, 1950, she married Winfield L. Robbins Sr. of Roxbury. Together they raised three children and were the owners of A.W. Robbins and Sons General Store in Frye for many years.

She was a member of the Rumford United Methodist Church.

Robe was an excellent seamstress and made many dresses for her daughter, Vickie. She enjoyed woodworking, oil painting, furniture refinishing, gardening and cooking.

She is survived by a daughter, Vickie C. Bonney and husband, Richard Sr., of Roxbury; two sons, Winfield L. Robbins Jr. and wife, Charlotte, of Whitefield, and Albert W. Robbins and wife, Denise Vaillancourt, of Bethesda, Md.; four grandchildren, Heidi Sprague and husband, Ian, Richie Bonney Jr., Nathan Robbins and Joel Robbins; and cousins, Evelyn Charron of Rumford, June Shaw of Wyckoff, N.J., and William Goodrich of Rochester, N.H.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Winfield L. Robbins Sr., in 2001.
