AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA exercise instructors recently completed an intensive three-day training program for Group Power, a new program the YMCA will be launching on Wednesday, March 1.

Group Power is a 60-minute barbell program that strengthens major muscles in a motivating group environment with music and nationally certified instructors. With athletic movements such as squats, lunges, presses and curls, Group Power is for all ages and fitness levels.

Body Training Systems of Atlanta, Ga., taught the 30-hour training program. The experienced YMCA instructors, who presently teach Pilates, yoga, personal training and group exercise classes at the YMCA, said they are excited to have the first Group Power program in Maine and New Hampshire.

The YMCA will launch the program on March 1 with four free classes open to the public. Participants must register by Tuesday, Feb. 28, by stopping by the YMCA at 62 Turner St. or calling 795-4095.

Tish Caldwell, YMCA wellness coordinator, said, “Discover results, discover Group Power. This is simply an incredible 60-minute group workout program.”
