PORT ORANGE, Fla. – Joyce C. Palton, 76, of Roxbury Pond, died Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Hospice Center of Volusia/Flagler, as the result of a stroke she suffered the previous week.

Mrs. Palton was born on April 26, 1929, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., the daughter of Joseph Omer and Mary (Miller) Caron. She graduated from Mexico High School and began her banking career as a teller with Rumford Bank and Trust. She retired, after 38 years, as regional vice president of Maine National Bank.

She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the first woman in Maine to be president of a Rotary club.

Survivors include her husband of almost 54 years, Joseph of Roxbury Pond; daughter, Joanne Riley and her husband, Thomas, of Port Orange, Fla.; grandson, Joel Riley of Portland; granddaughter, Erin Riley of Portland; a sister, Barbara Gagnon of Gardiner; and three brothers, John David Caron of Roxbury Pond, Joseph Omer Caron of Naples, Fla. and George Strout of Concord, N.H.

She was predeceased by her parents.
