AUBURN – Ashley Woolford and Ashley Swett each lit up the boards with 20 points a piece as Central Maine Community College dominated over Eastern Maine Community College 99-39 in womens’ basketball action Wednesday.

Woolford led all players with nine rebounds for the Mustangs (20-5), while Justine Frost-Kolva contributed 19 points. CMCC plays NHTI and Hesser in the Yankee Conference playoffs at SMCC this weekend.

Vermont 68, Maine 65

ORONO – Chrissy Battram poured in 19 points and hauled down five rebounds to lead the University of Vermont to a 68-65 victory over the University of Maine in womens’ basketball action.

Ashleigh Cuncic chipped in for the Catamounts (4-8) with 16 points, while Alexis Castro tallied 15. Maine held a slim two-point lead at the half, then Vermont got fired up in the second half and regained control. The Black Bears (7-15) were paced by Bracey Barker with a game-high 24 points, while Abby Schrader tallied 14 and Ashley Underwood added 12.

Hesser 95, UMA 72

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Demarte Battle led all scorers with 24 points as Hesser College posted a 95-72 win over the University of Maine at Augusta in the Yankee Conference opening round Wednesday.

Abe Prior added 23 points and five steals for the Hesser win, while Harold Reynoso contributed 15 points and eight steals. Hesser went on a 14-2 run before half to take a 52-34 lead.

UMA was led by Jonathan Hill and Ben Laflin, each with 19 points.

Vermont 79, Maine 48

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Mike Trimboli drained a game-high 15 points as Vermont rolled past Maine to post a 79-48 triumph on Wednesday evening.

Chris Holm contributed 13 points and eight rebounds for Vermont (9-15),

while Ryan Schneider added 11.

The Black Bears (9-15) were led by Chris Bruff and Phil Tchekane Bofie with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
