PORTLAND (AP) – Pierre Parenteau scored in sudden-death shootout as the Portland Pirates beat the Lowell Lock Monsters 3-2 Wednesday in the American Hockey League.

Portland goalie Dieter Kochan made 33 saves to earn his third straight win.

After a scoreless first period, the Pirates (32-13-5-3) took a 1-0 lead into the second intermission when Simon Ferguson connected at 11:49 of the second period.

David Gove tied it at 1:19 of the third, but the Pirates regained the lead on Joel Perrault’s goal at 8:38. The Lock Monsters (20-26-4-5) tied it again in regulation when Andrew Ladd capitalized on a two-man advantage with 3:43 remaining.

After a scoreless overtime, Aaron Gavey scored for the Pirates but Paul Healey answered for Lowell to set up the sudden-death situation.
