SUMNER – First responders recently had a harrowing few moments of not being able to locate an address in Sumner where someone was having a heart attack, according to the director of a West Paris ambulance service.
“We couldn’t find it because there were no numbers,” Tri-Town Rescue director Norm St. Pierre said Wednesday.
The person was saved in time, he said. But he’s asking that people clearly mark their addresses, which is required by some local ordinances. Sumner does not require this.
“People need to put numbers on their houses and on both sides of the mailboxes,” St. Pierre said. “It’s good to have it on the house.” This was the second time this kind of incident has occurred, St. Pierre said.
He said there have been two instances recently of responders not being able to find people because the address numbers were not displayed.
