Today, Poland Regional High School will hold its Winter Carnival, a tradition for the last seven years. I would like to see it continue, even after the Class of 2006, which is the class that I’m in, graduates. Unfortunately, activities during the carnival have become extremely competitive, to the point where it has given almost everybody involved a headache.
Last year, the Class of 2006 (last year’s juniors) won Winter Carnival, dissolving the idea that senior class members rig the day’s events, leaving each class that follows with big shoes to fill.
This is the most competitive year, with a clear and complete “showdown” of air bands between the juniors and seniors. I would like to point out that this day has also brought each individual class together, and still united the school as one.
We need to keep in mind just what sportsmanship means.
