AUBURN – Gregory D. Waite, 51, of Beliveau Road, Rumford, died Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Hospice House.

Born in Rumford on Nov. 27, 1954, he was a son of Edwin and Viola (Olsen) Waite. He graduated from Mexico High School and the University of Maine at Farmington.

He worked for SAD 43 as a school teacher for more than 25 years. He was also a ski coach, softball coach and soccer coach, and was a national ski patrolman. He served on the board of directors for the Greater Rumford Community Center and Black Mountain.

Greg was married in Rumford on Aug. 25, 1979, to Karen Garneau, who survives in Rumford.

He is also survived by a son, Patrick Waite of Rumford; two daughters, Alissa Waite and Elaina Waite of Rumford; his parents, Edwin and Viola Waite of Mexico; and a sister, Susan Goldberg and her husband, Lee, of South Portland.
