AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA has announced a new program targeting families in the community: Prime Time Family Time. The program, which offers a variety of activities for children and their parents, will begin on Monday, Feb. 27.

Activities will include designated open gym and swim times, family yoga classes and movement with music. The regular Prime Time Family Time hours will be 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3:45 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:45 to 11 a.m. Fridays.

“The focus is to get families in here together,” said Prime Time Director Sigrid Houlette. “Mom can take an exercise class while the children take lessons and dad is in the weight room or they can all take an exercise class together. This program has been found to be extremely successful in other YMCAs across the state and country.”

Whether the family has a membership with the YMCA, or is interested in joining, it is welcome at the Prime Time “Olympic” Family Night Kick-Off to be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24.

The YMCA will be offering a free light supper followed by tours of the YMCA facilities. There will be an open recreation room with pool tables and foosball, open gym, family free swimming and a chance to “win the gold” in the YMCA’s version of the Olympic games in the group exercise room.

Call the YMCA at 795-4095 no later than Thursday, Feb. 23, if planning to attend. Or stop by the facility at 62 Turner St. to sign up.
