AUBURN – The Kennebec River Sail and Power Squadron will offer “Boat Smart,” a course for all boaters, in several locations.

All boaters must follow the same nautical rules, regulations and courtesies of the sea. All are subject to the same forces of nature while boating. Courses will be offered as follows:

Auburn: Edward Little High School for four weeks from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning Wednesday, March 8; $40. Contact Gary Baine at 782-2985 or baingd@adelphia.net.

Waterville: Waterville High School for eight weeks at 6:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Feb 28; $55. Contact Hollis Ward at 873-4971 or lgward@adelphia.net.

Augusta: Cony High School for 10 weeks at 7 p.m. beginning Thursday, March 16; $55. Contact Lynn Mecham at 685-3805 or jjmecham@exploremaine.com.

Lewiston: Lewiston High School for eight weeks at 6 p.m. beginning Wednesday, March 22; $55. Contact Guy Pelletier at 375-4408 or cruisers00@yahoo.com.

The course is of value to all members of a boating family. The squadron encourages families to attend as groups. Instruction is free; costs are for materials, plus overhead costs such as classroom rental, shipping and handling, sales tax. Instructors volunteer their time.
