Hosting council

RUMFORD – American Legion Post 24 and Auxiliary of Rumford will host the Oxford County Council meetings at the Post Home on Congress Street at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Seniors invitation

BETHEL – Bethel senior citizens have been invited to join the sophomore class at Gould Academy for a luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in the dining hall. Musical entertainment will follow. For more information, contact, Nancy Mercer at 824-3350.

Day of prayer

RUMFORD – World Day of Prayer will be celebrated all over the world Friday, March 3. The theme is “Signs of the Times.”

The celebration in River Valley will be held at the Rumford United Methodist Church on Linnell Street. Women from 12 area churches will present the service, open to all in the area.

Some of the Methodist women planning the day are Jane Shuck, Dee Holman, Geneva Raymond, Dot Wing, Kathleen Crump, Jane Kingsland and Jean Hersey. The worship service will begin at 2 p.m., followed by a fellowship gathering downstairs.
