CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – There’s an ordinance in Concord that bans electronic signs with changing messages, except those detailing time and temperature.
But the city’s Capitol Center for the Arts has an electronic sign that advertises its performances – and that has other local businesses crying foul.
As a result, a sign maker who wants to create electronic signs for other local businesses has filed a lawsuit against the city in Merrimack County Superior Court, citing the businesses’ First Amendment rights.
That’s led to a proposal that would ban all electronic signs, including those detailing the time and temperature.
City councilors will hold a public hearing on the matter next month.
