WILTON – The Wilton Free Public Library staff has been awarded a grant from MBNA to attend the Public Library Association Conference in Boston on Wednesday through Saturday, March 22 to 25.

The conference will offer hundreds of workshops, round tables and programs centered around children’s services, technology, administration, space planning, building community, author’s luncheons, 750 vendor exhibits and audiovisual materials.

The goal is to enrich the staff in professional development. A national conference such as this is usually prohibitive for small public libraries, as the costs are extremely high. Because the conference is so close to “home” this year, the staff felt it was an opportunity to apply for a grant to attend.

Because the whole staff will attend the conference, the library will be closed March 22 through 25 and will reopen Tuesday, March 28.

The library is normally open Tuesday and Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday noon to 7 p.m, Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
