FARMINGTON – Barbara Mae DesRoche, 77, passed away Feb. 21 at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center.
She was born in Kingfield April 11, 1928, the daughter of Glenville and Effie (Copp) Grover. She was later adopted by Archie and Leona Childs. She was educated in the schools of Stratton, Strong and Salem. She also received training as a nurses’ aide in Quincy, Mass., where she lived for nine years.
She moved to Freeman, in the 1950s and then to Farmington, where she continued to work as a nurses’ aide for many years at the old Farmington Hospital and in Temple at the Farmers Nursing Home. She then worked as a traveling nurse until retiring from nursing in 1985, due to ill health.
She was married to Andrew DesRoche, who passed away in November 2000. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading, and loved the outdoors in the summer. She also loved her dog, King King.
She is survived by her dog, King King; two very special friends, Rod and Sherry Judkins of Farmington; two nephews, Henry Grover and his companion, Rose Martin, of Fairfield, and Clayton Hodgkins and his wife, Carol, of Lebanon, Conn.; a niece, Sandy Senecal, her husband Donnie, and their son, Brandon, of Douglas, Mass.
She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew; and her four brothers, Carlton, Reginald and Robert Grover, and Elton Dunham Jr.
