Worship leader

PARIS – Peter Crumlish will be the worship leader at the 10 a.m. service Sunday, Feb. 26, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris.

Crumlish is the ethics and religion instructor at Hebron Academy. In addition, he is part of the college counseling office.

The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist. Renee Wales will lead the Sunday school. Child care is provided. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Ice-cutting

HARRISON – The Farmers Draft Horse, Mule and Pony Club will sponsor an old-fashioned ice-cutting event at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Crystal Lake Park. It will continue until the ice house is full.

The cakes of ice will be transported from the shore to the ice house with horse-drawn equipment and cut with tools borrowed from Scribners Mill Preservation Society. Free horse-drawn rides will be available at the park, along with other events put on by Harrison Rec. Department.

The public is invited. Bad weather date is Sunday, Feb. 26. For more information, call Stan Merrill at 583-4677.

Easter services

WATERFORD – Services have been announced at the Waterford Congregational Church UCC at the foot of Plummer Hill Road in Waterford Village during the Lenten/Easter season. Everyone is invited.

Ash Wednesday worship service will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 1. The Maundy Thursday service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13. The Easter morning sunrise service will be held at 5:50 a.m. at Keoka Lake Town Beach and the Easter Sunday worship service with special choir music will take place at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 16.

March events

OTISFIELD – The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, Rayville Road, announces the following schedule of events for March: Sunday, March 5, deacons meeting after the morning service; Sunday, March 19, officers will meet after the morning service; Sunday, March 26, the Rev. Dr. Al Fletcher, executive minister from the American Baptist Convention at Augusta, will be a guest.

The Sunday worship is at 10 a.m. and is preceded by the Sunday school at 9. Anyone wanting more information may call the minister, the Rev. Gertrude DeCoteau, at 743-2438.
