SCARBOROUGH – Caroleta “Carol” Alice Dyke, 74, of Gray, died Wedneday, Feb. 22.
She was born Aug. 26, 1931, in Wilton, a daughter of Guy Edward and Stella Celinda Davenport Dyke.
She attended schools in North Jay, Wilton, and New Sharon, graduating from New Sharon High School, Class of 1949, where she was a star basketball player.
She entered the work force at Forster Manufacturing in Strong. She then joined the service as a WAC, and completed a tour of duty in Germany. She worked for several shoe shops and Bath Iron Works until she retired.
After retirement, she worked part time at L.L. Bean, where her friendly disposition and helpful manner will be greatly missed.
She spent her life giving to others which brought her great joy. She would go without herself to give to someone else.
She was a member of the American Legion Gray Post Unit 86 and attended St. Gregory’s Parish.
She is survived by brothers, Travis “Ted” Dyke, Wallace “Skip” and Erlane Dyke, of Farmington, Wayne and Virginia Dyke of Gray; sister, Dareen Watson of Gray; manny nieces and nephews; also her special friend, Jeannine St. Hilaire and Trina.
She was predeceased by brothers, Guy Dyke and Roy Dyke.
