South Paris – Kevin M. Litchfield, 52, of South Paris passed away at his home on Thursday, Feb. 23, with his loving wife, Gloria by his side.
He was born in Massachusetts on Oct. 20, 1953, the sixth child of Walter and Carolyn Litchfield of Sumner. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Buckfield High School, Class of 1971. He loved animals and when he was younger spent many hours with his horses, sheep and his steer Carl.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and auto racing. He raced in various classes at Oxford Plains Speedway, where he was known as “Cautious Kevin,” and won the Figure Eight Championship in 1980. An avid Dale Earnhardt fan, he loved NASCAR racing and traveled to four different tracks throughout the country.
He enjoyed eating out and spent many enjoyable hours at Michael’s restaurant in Norway. He also enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and never turned down a game of chance. He was a member of the Ironworkers Union, Local 496.
In 1999 he married the love of his life, Gloria Grover.
He is also survived by his mother, Carolyn Litchfield; four children, Andrea Litchfield Voisine, Kevin Litchfield Jr., Mindy Litchfield and Ryan Grover and his companion, Crystal Hill; four grandchildren, Kalla, Konnor, Karsyn and Kohvyn; three brothers, Larry Litchfield and his wife, Susan, Allen Litchfield and his companion, Bobbi Bickford and Wally Litchfield and his wife, Lorraine; a sister, Linda Richardson and her husband, Donald Jr.; a sister-in-law, Deborah Litchfield; his father-in-law, Robert Grover; a brother-in-law, Gordan Grover; a sister-in-law, Corinna and her husband, Darren Morse; many nieces and nephews; his trustful dog, Hank and his cat, Fluffy, his best friend and companion.
He was predeceased by his father, Walter Litchfield Sr.; his brother, Wayne Litchfield; and his mother-in-law, Laurelei Grover.
A special thank you to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. We will miss you Kevin. We can see you now as you look over at Leland with a wink and a smile, waiting for the announcer to say “Gentlemen, start your engines.” We will all meet you at the finish line.
