CONCORD, N.H. – George M. Strout, 79, of East Side Drive, died on Thursday, Feb. 23, at Concord Hospital.
He was born on March 1, 1926, in Mexico, the son of Milton and Mary (Millar) Strout. He graduated from Mexico High School in 1943, where he was active in athletics and band. He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Navy.
He received a B.S. degree from Harvard College, Class of 1947, and his master’s degree in education at UNH, Class of 1955. He was a Kellogg Fellow at Michigan State University where he earned his Ph.D. in junior and community college education in 1970.
He was the first president of the NH Technical Institute in Concord. During his career, he also worked in the field of technical and community education in New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.
His family members include his wife of 57 years, the Rev. Nadine (Lindberg) Strout of Concord; three daughters; three brothers; a sister; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister earlier this year.
