RUMFORD – Lorraine Odell O’Leary, 62, of Rumford, died early Friday morning, Feb. 24 at the Rumford Community Home after a long illness.

She was born in Farmington, Aug. 30, 1943, the daughter of Lawrence and Lena (Williams) Odell. She lived on Vinalhaven and in Rockland during her childhood and resided on Walker Hill in Wilton for 23 years where she enjoyed a farm life, gardening, picking berries, canning and the farm animals. She had the enjoyment of caring for many young children, whom she held dear to her heart.

As her illness progressed, she had to leave the farm to receive more care and services. She had been a resident of the Rumford Community Home for seven years when she met Louie O’Leary. They were married on Jan. 22, 2005 at the Rumford Community Home.

She is survived by her husband, Louis of Rumford; a sister, Elizabeth Saunders of Warren; a half-brother, Ralph Tinker of Wilton; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; father-in-law, John O’Leary Sr. of Rumford; a brother-in-law, Kevin O’Leary of Rumford; sisters-in-law, Pat Drakus of Andover, Anne Clifford of Rumford, and Marcie Surette of Rumford; and her legal guardian, Sandra Starbird of Wilton.
