LIVERMORE FALLS – Police are investigating the theft of a Ford Focus stolen from 20 Bellaire Road between 9 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday.

Apparently someone was trying the doors of vehicles and homes in the area until he or she found one that was left unlocked, Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Friday.

Footprints left in the fresh snow as the person moved around the neighborhood off Hillcrest Road gave the police a track to follow, Steward said.

Police put the information about the 2003 silver, 4-door Ford Focus with a Maine registration of 1125HZ on the teletype.

The keys were left on the floorboard of the vehicle, Steward said.
