POLAND – Richard and Doris Charest of Poland recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a gathering at Marco’s Restaurant in Lewiston. Children of the couple were party hosts. Prior to the dinner, the couple had their marriage blessed at the 5:30 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn, with the Rev. Frank Murray officiating.
Following dinner, a reception was held at the home of their daughter, Monique Marchessault in Lewiston. Cake was served and gifts were presented to the couple. Mark Charest was the toastmaster.
Mr. Charest and the former Doris Bouchard were married on Jan. 21, 1956, at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. Their children are Suzanne Carrier of Lisbon Falls, Monique Marchessault of Lewiston, Rick Charest of Oxford and Mark Charest of Falmouth. They also have five grandchildren.
