LEWISTON – Lillian M. Robert, 89, of 393 Center St., Auburn, died Friday, Feb. 24, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion from complications due to a stroke suffered in December. Prior to her illness she had lived independently.

She was born in Milford, Mass., on Feb. 6, 1917, the daughter of Telesphore and Annie (Dion) Dichard. She attended schools in Haverhill, Mass., and graduated from Haverhill High School in 1935.

Mrs. Robert moved with her husband to Auburn in 1937. She had a great memory and often amazed family and friends with her ability to remember numbers. She was a homemaker and was also employed for many years at Artistic Memorial Studios in Lewiston as a bookkeeper.

After her husband died on June 6, 1984, she worked for some time as a volunteer at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was a communicant of St. Philip’s Church.

Reading, travel and politics were among her many interests. She also enjoyed outings and shopping trips with her daughter-in-law and friends, Catherine Kincaid of Turner and Yvette LaMontagne of Auburn.

Times spent at the ocean with family and friends perhaps brought her the most joy. Summer picnics at Stover’s Point in Harpswell were a family tradition.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth and his wife, Diane, of Leeds, and Paul of Hartford, and his former wife, Judy Wilson, of West Paris; five grandchildren, Christopher Robert and his wife, Kate, of New Jersey, Alexander Robert and his wife, Marion, of Spanaway, Wash., Ryan Keith and his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Rothe, of South Portland, Valerie Keith of Oakland, Calif., Myles Robert of Lewiston, and a young lady special to the family, Amber Smart, of Spencer, Mass.; three great-grandchildren, Abigail, Juniper and Xavier; her godchild, Leanne Settleminer of Groveland, Fla.; many special nieces and nephews, including Jeannette Miles of Winsted, Conn., Lisa Scovotti of Haverhill, Mass., Theresa Doucette of Lewiston, Anita Malia of Poland, and Lillian Koun Doran of Mascott, Fla.

Besides her husband of 47 years, Alfred Robert, she was predeceased by five sisters and four brothers; and in 1992, by her son, Raymond Robert.

She will be missed very much by all who knew and loved her.
