MADAWASKA – Marc Cloutier of 562 Main St., Lewiston, died instantly in a tragic snowmobile accident in Madawaska, Saturday, Feb. 25.

Born in Lewiston on May 2, 1957, he was the son of Maurice and Joan Long Cloutier. A 1976 graduate of Lewiston High School, Marc was a familiar figure on the ice in center position and played a large part in taking his team all the way to the New England Championship.

He later also played for LA Travel, Maine Yankees, Junior Nordiques and the LA Wings.

A millwright by trade, Marc was an extremely versatile electrician, builder and oil burner technician. He had a natural talent for fixing anything and was considered a jack-of-all-trades for his accomplished skills.

He had a deep affection for the outdoors and was especially at ease in the woods. He had a deep fondness for the sand and ocean at Pine Point where family gatherings brought out his cooking talent. He had a tremendous culinary savvy and there was no one who could equal his delicious barbecued steaks. Passionate about good food and wine, he cultivated his own vegetables and herbs for his savory, gourmet masterpieces.

Marc was a real homebody and family man. He loved spending time with his longtime companion and soulmate of 23 years, Mary Lou Caouette, her two children, Jayme and Nik, and their beloved dog, Aiden. He was always a caring and excellent provider and father figure. A kind and generous man, Marc was always available to his friends and family at any given time of the day or night, and will be sadly missed by all.

He is survived by his companion of 23 years, Mary Lou Caouette and their two children, Jayme and Nik; his mother and stepfather, Joan and Phil Wills of Concord, N.H.; two brothers, Maurice Cloutier of Wales, and Reginald and companion, Peggy, of Canterbury, N.H.; sisters, Vicki and husband, Ray Dugal, and Rita Perreault and companion Paul; and also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Maurice Cloutier; a brother, Michael; and grandparents.
