LEWISTON – Vivian T. LaPointe, 73, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, Feb. 24, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Mexico on May 30, 1932, the daughter of Joseph and Rosalind (Duguay) Thibodeau. She attended Mexico schools and graduated in 1951.

She was devoted to her family and present for all her grandchildren’s births. Words cannot describe how wonderful, patient, kind and loving our mother was. She was an angel. All of those who knew her understand why words cannot describe her. She volunteered her time to SeniorsPlus, working in the kitchen, delivering meals, being a friendly visitor and shopping for the homebound. She donated blood routinely.

She loved her flower gardens and feeding the birds in her backyard. She enjoyed cooking, especially for her family. She was also an avid reader of mystery novels. She looked forward to taking walks and having coffee with her sister and friend, Louise.

She is survived by her two sons, Lawrence LaPointe Jr. and his wife, Jayne, of Dixfield, and Michael LaPointe of Gorham; three daughters, Vicky Yarnish and her husband, Tim, of Oxford, Theresa Kissick and her companion, Cacy Cantwell, of Poland, and Mechell Smith and her husband, Patrick, of Buckfield; grandchildren, Lawrence LaPointe III and his wife Jenna, Jennifer (LaPointe) and husband, Damon Straw, Gary Vaughn and his companion, Melissa, Simon, Rachel, Oliver, and Emma Kissick, and Isaac, Levi, and Mitchell Smith; five great-grandchildren, Brittany and Marissa LaPointe, Austin and Timothy Vaughn, Mateo LaPointe, and soon to arrive, Nathan Straw; one sister, Louise Maranda of Rumford; and one brother Joseph “Hawkeye” Thibodeau of Mexico.

She was predeceased by her son, Jerry; a grandson, Curtis Smith; and four brothers, William, Romeo, Norman “Jack,” and Robert.
