LEWISTON – The National Kidney Foundation’s Valentine’s Father/Daughter Dance was held on Feb. 11 at the Carriage House Banquet Center. With more than 220 tickets sold, the foundation raised approximately $5,000.

The money will be used to support Maine kidney patients and their families. Most typically, the funds are paid in the form of “patient grants” that could help with medical bills, heating oil costs, grocery bills and transportation costs.

Last year, the foundation paid approximately $63,000 in direct patient assistance. In 2006 it hopes to increase that number and stretch resources further.

The dance floor was filled all night long, with the music provided by Dionne Entertainment. One father serenaded his daughter, singing “Let Them Be Little,” while she stood smiling tucked under his arm.
