Lewiston – Charles James Howard Veit Jr., 52, of Turner Street, Auburn, died Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Portland, a son of Charles James Howard and Margaret L. Winch Veit. He was raised and educated in Westbrook. He was a cook. He had been employed by Dunkin’ Donuts and also for several summer camps in the area.

He enjoyed collecting trains, toys, firefighting memorabilia and fishing.

He is survived by brothers, John Veit of Baldwin, Michael Veit of Westbrook; sisters, Martha Carver and Rosemarie Veit, both of Gorham; and close friends and companions, Arthur Lawrence and Cathy Tardiff, both of Lewiston.
