PORTLAND – Defenseman Jordan Smith remained hospitalized Monday after suffering extreme trauma to his left eye after a puck was deflected into his face during a Portland Pirates game with the Manchester Monarchs on Friday.
A statement released by the Pirates said Smith underwent emergency eye surgery.
