RUMFORD – An Ash Wednesday service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at the Rumford United Methodist Church on Linnell Street. All are welcome.
It will be a joint service with the United Church of Christ of Mexico. The pastors, Kelley Harvell and Rev. Virginia Snapp-Cunningham, will join in presenting the service that begins Lent. The Church Belles will sing.
World Day of Prayer service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, March 3, jointly with 10 area churches. It will be held at the Rumford United Methodist Church.
A joint choir of women’s voices will be present as well as readers from the participating churches. The service has been written by the women in South Africa. Harvell will present the challenge to the local group.
Although the same service is presented in churches around the world, there is much local participation from women in the River Valley. The public is invited.
