Lewiston – Bertrand A. Levesque Sr., 87, formerly of Lisbon, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion where he had lived for the past three years.

He was born in Auburn, Oct. 5, 1918, a son of Sylvio and Olive Bertrand Levesque. He was educated in Auburn and Lewiston schools. He served in the Philippines and Japan in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a goalie in the 1940 for the Maple Leaf Hockey Club and was an avid ping-pong player, having won several championships.

He was married to the former Adrienne St. Pierre, who died March 26, 1978.

He worked at the Androscoggin Mill for 20 years and Quinco Fabrics for 10 years retiring in 1977. He served seven years as president of the Pine Tree Warriors.

Mr. Levesque was a member of Holy Trinity Parish of Lisbon Falls and the D.A.V. Emilien Hamann Chapter 11.

He is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Levesque and her husband, Bruce, of Lisbon; four sons and spouses, Normand and Cheryl Levesque of Lewiston, Bertrand and Arlene Levesque Jr. of Lisbon, Raymond and Nellie Levesque of Lewiston, and Paul and Rachel Levesque of Lisbon Falls; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Fernande Leblond and her husband, Henry, of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by a son, Sylvio H. Levesque Aug. 24, 1998.
