Musical program

PARIS – The public is invited to attend a special presentation by the Bob Jones University Musical Ministry Team at 6:30 p.m. tonight, at Paris Hill Bible Church.

The group will present a program of familiar hymns and gospel songs consisting of piano, vocal and instrumental solos, duets and trios, as well as testimonies from team members. Leader Nathan Hill will close the service with a brief message.

Meeting on care

PARIS – The Maine Veterans Home is partnering with Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for an educational session. The public is invited to the session on “End of Life Care” to be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 2, in the home’s multipurpose room. Refreshments will be provided.

Knitters to meet

PARIS – The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 7, at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main S., South Paris. There will be a speaker. Anyone interested in knitting is welcome. For more information, call Midge Leighton at 743-7677.

Family concert

NORWAY – The Open Doors Concert Series at Second Congregational Church will present a family concert with Jennifer Armstrong at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3.

Armstrong is a musician and storyteller, interweaving songs, tunes and tales into all her programs. With Scottish bagpipe, fiddle, sit-down square dancing, Celtic, Appalachian and personal tales, Armstrong’s performances entertains all ages.

She is a national touring artist giving performances in singing, storytelling and writing. Admission us free, but donations will be accepted at the door.

Refreshments will be served after the performance.

Chorus time

WEST PARIS – West Paris Baptist Church will have “Chorus Time” at 9 a.m. every Sunday morning before the 9:15 service.

Easter cantata rehearsals will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesdays starting March 1 at the church.

The youth group visited the Ledgeview Living Center recently, then went snow tubing at Mt. Abram. During March they plan to attend the “Paid in Full” concert in Saco. Anyone interested in going should call Pastor Bruce Tyner at 674-2968.

Volunteer chaplain

WEST PARIS – Gloria Waterhouse Fleming is the new volunteer chaplain at the Ledgeview Living Center, 141 Bethel Road. She trained at Boston Regional Medical Center, where she received her certificate in clinical pastoral education. Fleming has served as chaplain in the Boston Regional Medical Center, Parkview Hospital in Brunswick and Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.

Bridge play

NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Bridge Club met Feb. 24 at the Fare Share Market, Main Street. Finishing first in Flight A were Marta Clements and Pete Cummings; second, Bill Bowman and Les Buzzell; third, Mimi Bell and Woody Mercier.

Finishing first in Flight B were Mary Lou Burns and Cindy Kircherr.

All bridge players are welcome to another game at 9 a.m. March 3. A partner is guaranteed; for information, call Les Buzzell at 783-4153.

Basketball

OTISFIELD – Adult co-ed basketball began Feb. 27. It is held from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Otisfield Community School gym. Games are held every Monday and Wednesday.
