LEWISTON – Charles Theodore Jones Sr., 91, of Hartford, died Feb. 24, at CMMC.

He was born in Pound Ridge, N.Y., Sept. 27, 1914. He was educated in New Canaan, Conn. schools, graduating with the Class of 1932.

He married Mary Pinckney in 1935 and they had five children, Walter, Charles (Ted) Jr., Allen, Judith and Gary.

He and his family owned and operated Deep Well Farm in New Canaan and Lenisboro, N.Y., until 1965 when he sold and went into the real estate business in East Haddam, Conn. With losing most of his eyesight, he moved to Maine in 1976, marrying Eleanor Nelson Toth in 1979 and went into the real estate business, retiring to Apple Hill Farm, 139 Annis Road, Hartford, until Feb. 24.

He joined the Masons Evening Star Lodge 147 in 1982, serving as treasurer until his eyesight forced him to retire. He and Eleanor joined the East Sumner Congregational Church in 1981, where he was a deacon and they had always been active members.

He enjoyed bowling with the Freedom League every Friday morning, including Friday, Feb. 17. He also belonged to the Turner Seniors, Robin Dow Seniors and the Hartford Heritage Society.

Surviving are his loving wife, Eleanor; sister, Doris Fuhrer of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sons, Walter and wife, Pam, of Madison, Conn., Gary and wife, Patty, of Shelton, Conn. and Ted and wife, Betty, of West Paris; stepchildren, Eleanor and husband, William Howard, of Middletown, Conn., Mary Louise and husband, Michael Sarris, of Acworth, Ga., Eric Toth and wife, Zoeann, of Colchester, Conn. and Nelson Toth and wife, Debra, of Poland; 25 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by daughter, Judith; son, Allen; and stepson, William Toth.
