BUCKFIELD – For $32.50 an hour, the town is looking into renting a code enforcement officer from the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments.
Town Manager Glen Holmes, who told Selectmen Tuesday night he had concerns about the cost of enforcement services in winter when the demand is less, also said he has spoken with AVCOG and is still looking at more options to cover code enforcement.
Holmes also told selectmen that he’s met with the trustees of the Buckfield Village Corp., and they are moving toward the town taking over the corporation. If the members of the corporation vote to approve the takeover, there would be a referendum at a special town meeting to see if the town approves the plan, Holmes said. There will be a meeting March 21 for Buckfield Village members.
Selectmen voted on several appointments. Tony Lord has returned from his tour of duty, which was canceled due to a slight medical problem. He was reappointed as chief of Buckfield Rescue after the resignation of acting chief Lisa Buck.
Appointments were made for the Democratic Party election clerks. They are as follows: Priscilla Bennett, Mary Miclon, Shirley Lovejoy, Stacey Raymond, Linda Bell, Joanne Bly, Pat Ledlie, Rosita Gagne and Pat Meader.
Terry Hayes and Belinda Kleeberger were appointed to the Budget Committee for three years.
