RUMFORD – The Rumford Polar Bears Snowmobile Club annual Polar Bears Family Field Day, scheduled for March 4, has been canceled due to lack of snow.

The Polar Bears are planning for next year and are seeking nominees to run for the offices of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, trail master and safety officer.

Anyone interested should submit his or her name by calling a member of the Nominating Committee. The committee consists of Roger Miller, 364-8097; Dan Stearns, 364-7104; and Louise Stickney, 364-3848. Election of officers will take place at the annual meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at Sam’s Restaurant.

For the second year, the club will award a $100 scholarship to a graduating senior who is planning to attend college or vocational school. To qualify, an applicant must be a member of the Rumford Polar Bears Snowmobile Club.

Student must submit their name, address, telephone number and name of the college or vocational school and send it to the Rumford Polar Bears Snowmobile Club, PO Box 634, Rumford, ME 04276.

The winner will be chosen in May by a random drawing and the scholarship will be awarded upon successful completion of the first semester of college or vocational school. For more information, contact Robert or Louise Stickney at 364-3848 or info@snowmobilerumford.com
