Forestry session

RUMFORD – There will be a northern forest information presentation from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday, March 6, at the town auditorium.

The Northern Forest is the largest intact forest remaining in the eastern United States, stretching across northern Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. A regional strategy is taking shape. For more information contact the town office at 364-4576.

MEXICO – The River Valley Riders ATV Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the Mexico Chicken Coop.

Japanese drums

NEWRY – The Black Diamond Family Entertainment Series will present Burlington Taiko, Japanese Drumming, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the Grand Ballroom, Grand Summit Resort Hotel, Sunday River Ski Resort.

ROXBURY – The Slippery Sliders Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the fire station.

Chapter speaker

WILTON – Western Mountain Women’s Connection, the local chapter of Christian Women’s Club International, will meet from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the Boiler Room restaurant, Main Street.

The featured guest, Ann Palmer, will tell about Newborns in Need, a Maine group that helps premature and needy babies. Irene Loskamp of Bradenton, Fla., will share how the “Ultimate Make Over” began in her life. Cost is $12 inclusive.

Woman named

WATERFORD – Waterford Grange 479 has announced that Lecturer Kathy Lorrain of Waterford has been appointed to the State Lecturer’s Committee for District 6, which covers Androscoggin and Oxford counties.

She will visit each Subordinate and Pomona Grange where she will offer assistance to lecturers on upcoming programs, contacts for programs and resources offered on the local, state and national grange levels.

Lorrain’s appointment to the committee is for one year.
