LEWISTON – Laurier “Larry” Lachance, a lifelong resident of Lewiston, announced he is seeking the Republican nomination for Maine House District 73.
Lachance will be running as a Clean Election candidate.
“I have always been interested in the political process and believe that now is the right time for me to take action.”
Lachance is serving his third term representing Ward 2 on the Lewiston School Committee. For the last 30 years, he has been an active volunteer for S.E.A.R.C.H. (Seek Elderly Alone, Renew Courage and Hope), an agency sponsored by Catholic Charities of Maine, both as a client volunteer and chairman of the Advisory Board.
Lachance’s background includes nearly 30 years of sales and service with the public. During those years, he was employed at Snow’s Appliances and Tire, Fordland and Louis Chevrolet. Though retired, he works part-time as a driver for United Wheelchair Transport.
“I intend to work collaboratively with all members of the Lewiston delegation in our state government,” he said. His goals include: advocate for the growing elderly population as issues continue to multiply; maintain and improve state funding for education; promote economic growth in Lewiston; and maintain a watchful eye on state spending, keeping those who are most vulnerable in mind.
Lachance and his wife, Christine, have three grown daughters and three grandchildren. They live at 29 Fairlawn Ave.
